Day 1 Napo Wilderness Center
Day 1 began early with a paddle to the parrot clay licks, about an hour and a half away from the lodge. We watched five species, including parrots, parakeets, and macaws. Then a short power canoe on the Napo River up to a trail leads to the Kichwa Interpretation Center “Kuri Muyu,” managed by local women, providing insights into Kichwa culture Then back on the Napo River to a trail head and a short walk to another parrot and parakeet clay lick. We strolled back through the jungle to a hot lunch the transit area then a leisurely paddle back up the Añangu Creek where we saw three-toed sloths, numerous species of monkeys, caimans and lots of birds and other animals.
